About Mungo Park
Michael J. and Mary Meech Mungo Park is located on the former Rawls Creek Golf Course, approximately one mile south of Irmo, SC and just off of Lake Murray Blvd. The park is comprised of 118.4 acres of land, and features greenspace and approximately four miles of walking trails along the former cart paths. The former clubhouse has undergone renovations and is now operating as the Meech House meeting facility which can be rented for meetings, parties, and special events.
Mungo Park is bordered by several neighborhoods including Amberly, Brittany, Brittany II, Brittany Place, Coldstream, First Colony, The Fairways, and Woodgreene.
History
Mungo Park was generously donated to Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission by the Mungo Family in 2018. Originally known as Coldstream Country Club, it was built by Michael J. Mungo in 1971 as an amenity to attract new families to a growing area. The property once included a French restaurant, a casual grill, and a spectacular ballroom.
