Part time Digital Marketing / Social Media Specialist
Description of Duties
The Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission is looking for an organized and detail oriented part-time social media specialist to assist in the management of the agency’s social media accounts. We’re looking for a passionate self-starter with an exceptional working knowledge of social media best practices to join our team.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Skilled in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) with a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to develop engaging content.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about social media.
- Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and multitask effectively.
- Experience or knowledge of the parks and recreation industry.
- Trustworthy to handle marketing initiatives and communication with patrons.
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and other web-based design software tools like Canva.
- Working understanding of photography.
Essential Job Functions
- Collaborates with the marketing director on social media marketing efforts and content development.
- Create social calendars and postings across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
- Create, schedule, and publish high-quality, consistent, and engaging original social media content.
- Utilize social media properties to engage users and establish interactive social media environment.
- Use analytics tools to increase social media effectiveness and track overall performance.
- Consistently generate high quality photos and designs for multi-platform use.
Qualifications/Requirements
- BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field, or pursuing a BA/BS in related fields and/or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 1 year of previous relevant work experience (including internships)
- Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and content management systems
- Willingness to work an adjustable schedule including nights and weekends, including attending events as needed.
- Excellent research, writing and editing skills.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work both independently and across internal departments.
